White Stone United Methodist Church, 118 Methodist Church Road, White Stone, will host a community Ash Wednesday service from 5:30 to 7 p.m. March 1.
This a come and go service of prayer and ashes, reported pastor Rev. Bryan McClain.
Folks are invited to sit and pray as long as they like and then, when they feel led by the spirit, they may come up to the altar and Rev. McClain or a lay person will administer the imposition of the ashes. They may leave or return to a pew for further prayer.
Folks may just want to come in for prayer and leave, added Rev. McClain.
There will be quiet music playing over the intercom and those who would like specific prayers from the pastor or laity may ask at the altar, he said.
Rev. McClain said he wants to take an approach to Ash Wednesday to reach the busy and hurried folks in the community who want to take the time to remember that “from dust we came and to dust we shall return” but are limited on time to do so.
“So, if you are in a hurry or even if you are not. You are invited to come stop by White Stone UMC March 1 for a minute or for an hour and a half to give your sins to God, remember that you are mortal and either commit to a new found faith or re-commit to one that has been put on a back burner,” said Rev. McClain.
