127th Holly Ball debutante season commences

The Holly Ball Committee recently announced the young ladies who will be presented at the 127th Tidewater Foundation Holly Ball. The ball will be held at 7 p.m. December 28 Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club.

The Holly Ball dates from 1895 and has been continuous, with the exception of a period during World War I and World War II. Likewise, the ball was not held in 2020 due to the pandemic, reported publicity chairman Patricia Gallagher.

John Armistead Palmer crowned the first queen at the Eubank Hotel in Kilmarnock while hosting a holiday party in 1895. It became the precursor of the Tidewater Assembly Holly Ball and the subsequent crowning of a queen in each year thereafter. 

Gallagher announced sponsors for 2023 including Bevans Oyster Company, W. F. Booth and Son, Glenn C. Cockrell LLC, Connemara Construction, Dehnert, Clarke and Company P. C., Dunton, Simmons and Dunton L.L.P., Northern Neck Insurance Company, Omega Protein, Ross’s Fine Jewelers and Tri-River Investment Group of Davenport and Company LLC.

The Queens’ Society also supports funding for the Tidewater Foundation. “We gratefully acknowledge their generous support,” said Gallagher.

On Saturday, November 25, the debutante season commenced at Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club where the committee hosted a coffee for….
