Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club on July 15 held the “2018 Take a Swing at Cancer” fundraiser. The event benefitted either Massey Cancer Center, Bon Secours, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Virginia.
Seventy-two golfers played in a 4-person net scramble format, reported head golf professional Brenda Mayer, PGA.
The winning team shot a gross 54 and a net 53 to win the event on a par 72 golf course. The winning team members were Rob Anderson, Chris Beale, Bob Gillispie and Monte Todd.
The second place team won the match of cards with a net 55. Team members were Mary Kay Rotert, Joy Dawson, Steve Richardson and Jimmie Carter. The third place team, also shooting a net 55, was Aleksey Misonov, John Stallings, Mark Brown and Allen Whitecker.
Closest to the pin for the ladies was Jan Litsinger; and for the men, John Unangst.
The event raised over $7,000 for the cause, said Mayer.
