Authorities investigate fire at campground

TOPPING—Fire destroyed a camper and damaged two others in a permanent, seasonal camping section at Grey’s Point Camp in Topping around 8:30 a.m Monday, March 22. 

One unit was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. “It was pretty well gone when we got there,” said Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department assistant chief Jamie Revere.

A northwest wind blowing across the Rappahannock River pushed the fire towards other structures….
