Board approves small-scale solar project on Harris Road; refuses to reconsider similar project along Mary Ball Road

LANCASTER—The Lancaster board of supervisors on Thursday, March 31, narrowly approved a solar project off of Harris Road, 3-2, following a related public hearing.

The project, divided into two sites—one 3 megawatt on a 24.5-acre site and one 2 megawatt on a 12-acre site—joins one other recently approved small-scale solar project, a 5 megawatt 40-acre facility off of Ocran Road. Meanwhile, the proposed Sandale Solar on Old Salem Road was forwarded with a recommendation by the planning commission, but has not come before the board yet.

Director of planning and land use Brian Barnes said the Harris Road project mostly met the new proposed setbacks outlined….
