Bob Morrison

IRVINGTON—Ret. Col. Robert C. “Bob” Morrison, a resident of Irvington for over 35 years, passed away on September 20, 2018.

Bob and his wife, Martha, discovered and fell in love with Irvington shortly before he retired from the Army after 30 years of service.

Bob was a 1950 graduate of the United States Military Academy, West Point. He and Martha were married shortly after his graduation and six months later he left for a 13-month tour in the Korean War. During the war he was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action and the Soldiers Medal for gallantry in a combat area but not in actual contact with the enemy.

After his return from Korea he resumed the normal tours and schools of the Army. He also earned a masters in electrical engineering and he returned to teach at West Point. While at West Point he also assisted coaching the Army hockey team. They had two sons, Jim and Jack in the early years of their marriage.

Bob served one tour in Vietnam plus two assistant chief of staff tours to round out a magnificent military career.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Martha; son Jim and wife, Debby, with children, Matthew and Becca; son Jack and wife, Nancy, with daughters, Callie (Paul) Teasdale and Haley (Tyler) Knowles and great-grandchildren Annabelle, Zac, Jazmyn, Milo and Brady.

Well Done, Be Thou at Peace.
