For an amazing third year in a row, Christchurch School sailor Boyd Bragg has been tapped as the Virginia Interscholastic Sailing Association’s (VISA) Sailor-of-the-Year.
Last year, Bragg shared the honors with fellow teammate Benton Amthor of Yorktown, reported Jennifer Homer.
New this year, VISA selected both a male sailor and a female sailor. This year’s VISA Female Sailor-of-the-Year is also a Christchurch teammate, Mariana Guzman of Mexico City, Mexico.
Bragg was also named All-VISA 2019 Skipper.
In 2017, Bragg won Youth Club Sailing’s highest award, the Club 420 Triple Crown. He has won the CJ Buckley Team Racing National Championship twice, as well as the CJ Buckley Sportsmanship Award and the C-420 Midwinter Championship.
Bragg is the son of Camille and Bo Bragg of Irvington. A 2019 Christchurch School graduate, he will sail at Dartmouth College in the fall.
Amthor and Guzman are also 2019 Christchurch School graduates.
