Ceremonies define, encourage and connect communities. Starting the school year with common purpose, Chesapeake Academy highlights the character theme that will guide the year.
This year’s theme of “curiosity” follows previous themes of integrity, connection, perseverance, empathy, kindness and trust. Interim head of school Catherine Leitch Emery welcomed students with her characteristic sunshine and she admonished all to embrace the unknown.
“This year, curiosity is our school wide theme, but what is it, actually? Well, in order to make our community and world a better place, we have to be curious. On the surface, curiosity means you really, really, really want to know something. No one ever made the world a better place without first asking why….
