Children raising funds for veterans elevator

On September 11, Ty Jones, Crew Jones, Braylin Beauchamp and Rylee Beauchamp watched their great-grandfather, Lee “Granddaddy” Conner of Sandston, on the 6 p.m. news.

Conner is responsible for a project that has helped hundreds of disabled and homeless veterans in crisis get back on their feet, reported Melinda Beauchamp. Conner is a Korean War veteran and spends four days each week volunteering at Liberation Veterans Services in Richmond.

So far, Conner has organized a complete renovation of the basement, creating a recreation room, and raised thousands of dollars that was needed to fix the elevator, which has been out of commission…
