HEATHSVILLE— Following a public hearing on May 17, the Northumberland planning commission forwarded a proposed solar farm ordinance to the board of supervisors for approval.
The commission had been working on the proposed ordinance since August 2017.
Ron Herring of Wicomico Church voiced his concern about solar farms being a burden to new homeowners if the proposed solar farm regulation would require mandatory placement of solar panels on new construction.
“I don’t want this to become an issue. I think solar panels are a great idea but it’s not for everyone. It is cost prohibitive in a lot of ways,” said Herring.
