HEATHSVILLE—Members of the Northumberland planning commission on Thursday, November 21, continued their discussion of water access points.
The commission is considering developing a public kayak and canoe launch site adjacent to the Great Wicomico River fishing pier, on the Wicomico Church side of the river.
“This county’s got 450 miles of shoreline and not too many places for the regular person, or even a tourist, or people who are here year ‘round to come and enjoy this waterfront that we have,” said commission chairman Alfred Fisher. “We’ve got a lot of citizens in this county that need access to this waterfront, both recreational and commercial.”
