Community organizations partner to offer free vaccinations and backpacks

Joanna Marchetti delivers 50 backpacks from Bon Secours Rappahannock General Hospital. “We’re grateful to be part of this team of outstanding businesses and organizations, working diligently to care for our community,” said Marchetti.

A “Vacs and Backs” event is planned Saturday, August 21, at Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. Multiple organizations are coming together to help protect the schools and community against COVID–19.

From 11 a.m.-3 p.m., the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) will administer free Pfizer vaccinations for ages 12 and older. Minors must be accompanied by an adult and students may also receive a free backpack with school supplies upon vaccination. No appointment is necessary.

Pastor Tyron Williams of Mount Olive Baptist Church spearheaded the event. He invited the YMCA, the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck (BGCNN) and others to help plan and….
