Country Cottage this month celebrates 20 years of business in White Stone.

Pam and Tim Sawyer of Mathews in 1998 opened their garden center and gift shop on Chesapeake Drive. In 2001, the shop moved to 795 Rappahannock Drive, White Stone.

Today, the full-service florist offers arrangements for weddings, funerals and special occasions. She offers silk flowers and fresh flowers from formal to exotic. She sells fruit and gourmet baskets, balloons and plants from dish gardens to house plants.

Country Cottage also addresses sweet tooth cravings with ice cream, gourmet chocolates and fudge.

“We offer anything from cups or cones to shakes, sundaes, malts, banana splits, brownie sundaes and smoothies,” she said. “We also make the fudge and 90% of the gourmet chocolates are made here, too.”

“We try to carry between 25 and 30 flavors of fudge and the flavors change throughout the seasons,” said Sawyer.

The shop also offers gift items, flags and cards.

The connection with people is the most memorable aspect of being in business for 20 years, said Sawyer…
