LANCASTER—Following a closed session to discuss the acquisition of real property, legal matters and personnel, the Lancaster board of supervisors on Thursday, June 24, narrowly passed a measure in a 3-2 vote to purchase four parcels of land off Irvington Road near Dream Fields for the school board.
Supervisors Robert Westbrook of District 5, Jason Bellows of District 3 and Bill Lee of District 4 voted in favor. Ernest Palin of District 2 and Jack Larson of District 1 voted against.
Coming out of the closed session, county attorney James Cornwell said, “The school board has taken an option on four parcels of real estate that it wishes the county to purchase.” Cornwell added that the school board would transfer money back to the county for the purchase of these properties, with funds coming from the current fiscal year.
