More than 100 hand-crafted cards were recently made for veterans participating in the Inaugural Honor Flight out of Norfolk in November 2019.
Honor Flight is a national organization dedicated to providing veterans of World War II, Korea and Vietnam with honor and closure, reported Lyn Conley, coordinator for Crafty Christians. Honor Flight’s mission is to transport America’s Veterans to Washington, D.C., each year to visit memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices of themselves and their friends.
Local veterans have participated in this program in the past, said Conley. Priority is given to World War II survivors along with other veterans who may be terminally ill. These flights are provided several times a year at no cost to the veterans.
