WEEMS—David Scott Dencker, 80, of Weems passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023. He was born on May 10, 1943, to Ralph and Muriel Dencker in New York.
David is survived by his longtime companion, Agnes Holloway; and his wonderful friends, Richard, David and Susan Whittaker.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sun Cha Dencker, as well as his parents.
During the Vietnam War era, David served in the Army, and was stationed in Korea. That is where he met his wife, Sun Cha. After his service with the Army, he returned home with Sun Cha and they began a life together in New York.
David worked for 37 years with American Airlines as a freight handler. He was also a member of the East Rockaway Volunteer Fire Department for more than 50 years. Among his time there, he served a term as chief of the department. The number of awards on his walls showed his love and dedication to the fire department. After moving to White Stone, he became an associate member of the White Stone Volunteer Fire Department.
Dave was an avid bow and arrow hunter. He also participated in many bow and arrow competitions, winning countless honors and many awards.
After retiring to White Stone in 2017, Dave enjoyed boating and fishing on the Rappahannock River and Chesapeake Bay. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
Services will be private at a later date.
