Deadrise to rock Community Oyster Roast

Deadrise members from left are Norm Faulkner, Gregg Shivers, Burke Johnson, David Charlton, Lee Archard and Mark Clark.

The word is out that Chesapeake Academy’s 18th annual Community Oyster Roast will be one to remember: Delicious roasted and fried oysters, great music and dancing by community favorite Deadrise, all wrapped in a spirit of friendship, fall and fun.

Deadrise, known for Americana classics with a hometown vibe, is comprised of six old friends who love music and play around the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula, reported Catherine Emry in the development office. Five of the band members are dads/granddads and all are friends of the school.

This band is known for danceable fan favorites and for sharing the stage with guest performers, said Emry. Chesapeake Academy’s oyster roast is the perfect forum for their brand of fun!

The event will be held from 5-9 p.m. October 12 on the Rowe Campus, 107 Irvington Road, Irvington.

The all-inclusive menu will include roasted and fried oysters, clam chowder, french fried sweet potatoes, hot dogs and hamburgers and dessert. Beer, wine and soft drinks are included. Guests must be ages 21 or older to attend.

Tickets are $60 per person, $70 at the door—if available. Proceeds will benefit Chesapeake Academy’s academic and co-curricular programs and support financial assistance, said Emry.

Raffle tickets can be purchased for a chance to win first prize, a $500 gift certificate to Tri-Star Supermarket; second prize, a $250 gift card to NN Burger; and third and fourth prizes, a $100 gift card to Great Fortune Restaurant. Raffle tickets are $5 each, three tickets for $10 or 18 tickets for $50.

Sponsorships are available and each level has unique benefits and special opportunities. To become a sponsor or to purchase event or raffle tickets, contact Emry at Chesapeake Academy, 438-5575, or [email protected].

Event tickets can also be purchased at www.chesapeakeacademy.org or Specials Wine Seller, 52 South Main Street, Kilmarnock.
