The MidCounty Volunteer Rescue Squad will sponsor a chicken dinner to benefit squad member Melvin Cockrell.
The dinner will be held from 4-7 p.m. September 21, at the squad building, 7990 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville. The menu will include fried chicken, gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, drink and dessert.
“Melvin Cockrell, a valued member of the MidCounty Volunteer Rescue Squad, was severely injured in a recent traffic accident,” said captain Joe Schlatter. “As an EMT with MidCounty, Melvin was always on the spot to help anyone in need. Now we have the opportunity to help him.”
The fee will be $15 and all proceeds from the chicken dinner will go to help Melvin as he recovers, said Schlatter.
