Gwen Keane of Kilmarnock was crowned Miss Texaco IV by grand marshal Dean Loudy to highlight the annual Spring Festival celebration in April 1964.
Gwen wore number 13 in a contest that featured 13 girls. Joyce Winstead and Ann Marie Wigner were the runners-up.
The festival was held each spring to usher in the Texacos softball season. 1964 turned out to be a good one for the home team as they posted a 35-12 record playing teams from Atlanta, Richmond and Hopewell. They also hosted the California Cuties and…
