Thomas Rainer

The 25th annual Gardening in the Northern Neck (GNN) Seminar, sponsored by Northern Neck Master Gardeners and Virginia Cooperative Extension will be held March 24 at the White Stone Church of the Nazarene, 57 Whisk Drive, White Stone.

Doors will open at 8:15 a.m. The seminar will extend from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration is $30. Registration forms are available at www.nnmg.org, or Northumberland County Cooperative Extension Office, 580-5694. Box lunches can be purchased for $10.

“Since March 1, over 310 tickets have been sold,” said communications chairman Clare Adams. “That’s just 40 seats shy of 350 total capacity and a testament to the event’s popularity and enthusiasm of Northern Neck gardeners. Those wishing to attend should make a reservation now.”

The seminar will feature informative and practical advice from three experts on ecologically-sensitive practices, home-grown vegetables and colorful and eclectic garden designs. The “Biodiverse Garden” will be presented by Thomas Rainer, a registered landscape architect, teacher and expert in gardens that function like naturally-occurring plant communities.
