Early on June 12, four rising Lancaster High School freshmen embarked on an adventure of a lifetime.
Danielle Wright, Daniyah Reese, Christopher Willis and Gage Smith, with their chaperone Margaret Socey, settled into a van for a three-hour ride to George Mason University (GMU) to attend a three-day Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) Summer Leadership Camp.
GEAR UP is a federally-funded college access grant program, authorized by Title IV of the 1998 Amendments to the Higher Education Act of 1965.
