The Garden Club of the Northern Neck (GCNN) has awarded grants since 1999 to citizens and non-profit organizations in support of projects in Westmoreland, Richmond, Northumberland and Lancaster counties.
The grants committee is accepting applications for 2018, reported Susan Lake. The criteria for these grants are projects that meet one of the clubs missions, including restoration of historic gardens, conservation of natural resources, beautification of the area and promotion of horticulture and education.
Recipients of grants awarded in the past include historic sites, libraries, churches, schools, museums, parks, other garden clubs, town centers, land conservancy and educators, said Lake. Grants for 2017 went to The Menokin Foundation, Historic White Marsh Church, St. Mary’s Whitechapel Episcopal Church and Callao Volunteer Rescue Squad.
Grant proposals for 2018 are due by April 15. Awardees will be notified in early June and checks will be presented at the GCNN’s June 18 meeting.
