Although Hurricane Florence stayed well south of Virginia’s Northern Neck, its anticipated arrival meant school closures and athletic postponements.
For Lancaster High School, which was closed Wednesday, September 12 through Friday, September 14, a number of events have been rescheduled, according to LHS athletic director Dave Zeiler.
The Lancaster versus Middlesex varsity football game will be played at 6 p.m. Monday, September 24, in Saluda.
Lancaster’s golf team will play two extra matches this week, including a home match today, September 20, against Essex at 4 p.m. at the Golden Eagle Golf Course in Irvington.
The LHS junior varsity and varsity volleyball matches against Northampton were also postponed and a make-up date hasn’t been finalized. The varsity Lady Devils were also scheduled to play in the Endless Summer tournament in Virginia Beach last Saturday. That tournament also will be rescheduled.
Lancaster’s home cross country meet against Mathews and Washington & Lee last week was cancelled.
