Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club hosted its Holiday Doubles Tournament December 19 and 20. It proved to be a very eventful weekend.
Racquet sports director George Christoforatos had surprise gifts for participants: racquets, shoes, hats, towels and lessons.
The ladies opened up the event on Saturday with some outstanding tennis, said Christoforatos. The teams were Linda Fothe and Martha Mattheisen, Betsy Maddux and Ruth Simpson, Gail Kenna and Terrie Dort and Brenda Christoforatos and Debbie Gillispie.
First round matches had B. Christoforatos and Gillispie playing Fothe and Mattheisen; the score was 6-1, 6-2, in favor of B. Christoforatos and Gillispie. B. Christoforatos and Gillispie got on a roll, coming into the net and…There's more to this story...
