Irvington commemorates service of town clerk Jacqueline Harper Burrell

IRVINGTON–A plaque recently was erected at the Irvington Commons in honor and memory of Jacqueline Harper Burrell, town clerk from 1996 through 2017. 

Burrell was born in Newport News and grew up in Irvington, where her family had deep roots, reported town clerk Laurel Taylor.

Burrell attended Lancaster High School and graduated from Westhampton College of the University of Richmond. After college, she pursued a career in social work before marrying Ray Burrell in 1967, and having three children, John, Tom and Steve.

The Burrells lived all over the country before….
