Irvington putting brakes on traffic

IRVINGTON—The town council on Thursday, May 14, took several steps to address traffic issues in Irvington.

Town attorney Nancyellen Keane was instructed by council to work with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) on a number of traffic-related issues, most significantly the speed of traffic using Irvington Road, King Carter Drive and Steamboat Road.

First, Keane will work with the Lancaster board of supervisors on a required joint resolution for a “No thru trucks” sign request to VDOT. The locations of the signs on Irvington Road have not been determined, should they be approved.
