Kilmarnock to offer assistance to utility customers in arrears because of pandemic

KILMARNOCK—The Kilmarnock Town Council on Monday, December 14, adopted two resolutions that secure $20,789 for the COVID-19 municipal utility relief program to assist customers. The program is an extension of the CARES Act.

The funds will not be automatically appropriated to customers; however, a hardcopy application will be sent from the town to all eligible utility accounts. Those whose accounts have been in arrears for 30 or more days or for 60 or more days will qualify as eligible recipients. The application will require explanations of how the pandemic has affected the account holder’s work and finances.

The deadline for customers to apply is Friday, December 18. Funds will be awarded on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
