In October 2018, the Kilmarnock, Irvington, White Stone Rotary Club granted Lancaster Middle School art teacher Marilyn Sprouse funds to design an outdoor art piece with the sole purpose of sharing and inspiring kindness.
The idea was to create the illusion of a river, but instead of water, rocks would be used, reported Sprouse. On each rock, something would be painted or written that would bring the viewer a moment of reflection, joy, happiness, or the opportunity to witness a positive message.
