Knights Run and Antioch roads reopen

Repair work continues on Dirt Bridge Road in Middlesex County, where a drainage pipe recently failed. Weather permitting, the road is expected to reopen to through traffic on May 1. Crews will install two concrete drainage pipes, measuring 40 feet long and 48 inches in diameter.

Two state-maintained roads closed since October 2018 due to damage sustained during Tropical Storm Michael have reopened to traffic in the Northern Neck.

Emergency repair work was completed April 4 on Antioch Road in Westmoreland County, and work was finished April 12 on Knights Run Road in Northumberland County, reported Virginia Department of Transportation Fredericksburg District public affairs manager Kelly Hannon. Both roads are now open to traffic.

On Knights Run Road, crews replaced two 60-inch drainage pipes with two 72-inch reinforced concrete drainage pipes.

Crews repaired a void on Antioch Road and replaced a washed-out section of road.
