LANCASTER—The holiday season is a time for celebration and an opportunity to express gratitude to the people who have made a significant impact on the lives of others.
“The Lancaster County Department of Social Services would like to thank our community partners for stepping up to make the holiday merry and bright for seniors and families with children,” said director Claudette Carter Henderson.
“A special thank you to WRAR/WNNT for broadcasting our Christmas Wishes campaign. Other community partners are Trinity and St. Mary’s White Chapel, the Woman’s Club of White Stone, Let Us Talk Ministries, MD Associates Inc., Grace Episcopal Church and Omega Protein,” continued Henderson. “Our community partners blessed 20 seniors; 24 families comprised of 78 children.”
While this may have been a charitable donation for the community partners, it was a message of hope, caring and sharing to those who find themselves without the ability to provide for themselves and their families at this time of year, she said. To see the joy and appreciation on the faces of the recipients was delightful. Some had no words, some had tears and others could not express their feelings for the joy of receiving the gifts the partners made possible, said Henderson.
“As we celebrate the holidays, we’re reminded of how grateful we are for your partnership,” she said. “Thank you for being part of our community outreach at Lancaster County Department of Social Services.”
