The Lancaster Community Library (LCL) education committee will present Speaking Our Minds: Open Mic Night at 7 p.m. October 18 at LCL, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock. The theme will be “Someone Who Made A Difference in My Life.”
People of all ages may sign up to present short stories, reflections, poems, songs, art or performance pieces.
“Our vision for the LCL is to be known as the center of the community offering diverse programing, robust collections and responsive services,” said Ann Muse, president of the LCL board of directors. “We hope our patrons see us as a place to learn, share, create and grow.
“While one of our core services is to develop and deliver a variety of programs and services for all ages, our Open Mic Night is an outgrowth of our strategic plan’s emphasis on literacy. Beyond learning how to read, write and comprehend the written word, literacy is also about communicating. Open Mic is a creative opportunity to do just that….
