LPS students sent home with a book

Thanks to community partners Lancaster Primary School first, second, third and fourth graders recently received books for summer reading.

On a recent windy day, just before school ended for summer break, more than 250 first, second, third and fourth graders filed out of the Lancaster Primary School (LPS) with smiles and books in hand.

Each child carried or waved or read a book that they personally chose to take home and read during their summer break, said Jill Sears, director of marketing and development at the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck (BGCNN). All books had been screened for the quality of the reading experience and for the enjoyment of the youth.

Principal Mike Myers was excited to see the new books being given to each youth so they would have one more source for reading that would help to….
