HEATHSVILLE—After tabling decisions following hearings last month, the Northumberland supervisors on Thursday, August 10, unanimously approved three conditional use permits for short-term rentals in the Chesapeake Beach Estates subdivision.
A fourth, by Jon and Pamela Woodrum in Fleeton Beach, was tabled until the September meeting because they were not in attendance.
Among the 15 conditions placed on the rentals, property owners must install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors; develop one off-street parking space per bedroom with no on-street parking allowed; register with the county; clearly mark boundary lines of each rental property; open the home to annual inspections by a building official paid for by the owner; prohibit golf carts by renters; require liability insurance; and prohibit use of civic association amenities by renters.
