Northumberland school board ponders salaries for next budget

HEATHSVILLEThe Northumberland school board on Tuesday, January 26, discussed a potential increase in teacher salaries for the 2021-22 school year during a special called budget workshop.

Finance director Donna Booth presented a draft teacher salary scale which indicated a 2% pay increase. The proposed increase would make the starting teacher salary $41,019.

The board directed Booth to “work up” a 3% salary increase as well, and to present a teacher salary comparison among neighboring school divisions at the next budget work session.
