HEATHSVILLE—The Northumberland board of supervisors on July 16 voted unanimously (5-0) to request proposals for a building to house the ambulances of the county’s two paid emergency response squads. They are seeking costs on three types of construction – a pole barn, a steel building, or a masonry structure.
The county ambulances are currently housed in a temporary garage on Monument Place behind the Old Courthouse and adjacent to Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern. The temporary facility was erected last year after the board hired a second paid emergency response squad and needed additional space to house the related equipment.
