HEATHSVILLE—Following recent work sessions, the Northumberland board of supervisors on Thursday, May 28, asked the county administration to draft an updated budget for fiscal 2020-21 reflecting proposed reductions.
Proposed cuts to the county budget for the fiscal cycle beginning July 1 total $1,282,387 and would result in level funding for county schools and community organizations including the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck, the Northern Neck-Middlesex Free Health Clinic and the Northumberland Public Library.
The cuts to various county departments reflect a reduction of $300,000 for an ambulance, $150,000 from the information and technology department’s software budget, and $59,209 eliminating the position of director of general services.
