Fairfields Volunteer Fire Department chief Philip Keyser recently received the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) Fire Safety Award.
Richard Henry Lee Chapter SAR president James Russell made the presentation to Keyser in recognition of his 37 years of service to the lower Northumberland County community.
James Monroe SAR president Charles Belfield accompanied Russell. The two chapters cover the Northern Neck of Virginia where the drive for independence from England began with the Leedstown Resolves in 1766, reported Russell.
