Kilmarnock Garden Club and the Lancaster High School Symphonic Band will present “Symphony in Flowers” at 2 p.m. March 12 at the Lancaster Middle School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock.
“Symphony in Flowers” has many facets to it, reported Genny Chase.
The Lancaster High School Symphonic Band is practicing long hours to become proficient with the musical selections for the event, said Chase.
Meanwhile, Bridgette Sweptson, a “welding artist” from Powhatan, has been working on the “life size” metal frames that will be used by Francine Thomas, an international floral designer from New Zealand, she said. Sweptson’s metal creations have been featured in several fine arts and flowers events at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
“Symphony in Flowers” is a joint fundraising event with the Lancaster High School Band and the Kilmarnock Garden Club.
Tickets are $35 and may be purchased at Noblett Appliance and Propane, Kilmarnock, from band boosters, 438-5803, or dmcgrath64@gmail.com.
