The National Youth Poster Contest is an adjunct to the U.S. Power Squadron’s Kids Program. The 2017 year’s challenge theme is “Welcome to the Neighborhood!”
The contest is divided into 9-11 and 12-14 age groups. Under the guidance of Delores Vanecek and Barbara Hensler, Northumberland Middle School students were urged to employ their visual arts skills to send a message on boating safety.
Using a variety of media, donated by the Northern Neck Sail and Power Squadron, the students enthusiastically set to the task of making their themed creations.
