NORFOLK—The man accused of multiple felonies related to the death of Graham McCormick in August 2017 will stand trial in Norfolk this week.
John Randolph “Rand” Hooper of Richmond is charged with felony homicide, involuntary manslaughter while operating a watercraft under the influence, and failure to render aid in the death of his friend. McCormick’s body was found in Carter Creek in Lancaster County and his death was ruled a drowning as result of trauma sustained in a boating accident.
The court case has been widely publicized in newspapers in the Northern Neck and has been featured on Richmond-area television stations which resulted in a request for a change in venue. Judge Charles Poston will preside over the trial, which at press time was scheduled for January 18-21 in Norfolk Circuit Court.
