IRVINGTON—Irvington residents on Thursday, June 8, expressed disapproval of a proposed meals tax. Comments came during a public hearing on a 3% meals tax prior to council’s regular monthly meeting.
According to the draft ordinance, the meals tax would be implemented on September 1, 2023, and would be automatically repealed for evaluation on August 31, 2024.
Marsha Chapman referred to that as “putting the cart before the horse.”
