The Ponies escaped a mercy rule but still trotted out of the Region A tournament last week when Lancaster beat Chincoteague, 11-3, before a home crowd at Dream Fields in Kilmarnock.

The Red Devils beat Middlesex, 10-2, in a regional semifinal game Tuesday and will play Rappahannock in the championship game today, June 2, at 6 p.m. in Warsaw. Both the Raiders and Devils will play in next week’s Class 1 state tournament.

Jonathan Lee gave up one hit, struck out eight and walked one in five innings for the win for Lancaster. Brendan Walker and Tate Wilmore pitched an inning each on relief.

The Devils took a 6-0 lead after three innings….
