WEEMS—The Lancaster school board at a special meeting on Monday, March 11, reviewed the process for hiring a new school superintendent.
Virginia School Board Association (VSBA) executive director Gina Patterson led the board through an outline of a step-by-step process for the next four months.
“We’ve established a timeline for you,” she told school board members present. “It’s pretty aggressive with the goal of having someone in here by July 1.”
“We have a survey for you to send out to the public to determine what qualities they’d (the public) like to see in a superintendent,” Patterson said. “It’s important to hear from them for transparency.”
“In our present atmosphere, I think it’s important that we be very transparent,” said board member Joan Gravatt.
