Sheriff’s Report 05-25-23

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against five individuals.

Felony

Emily McKnight Hurley, 28, of Church View was charged May 18 with credit card fraud, credit card theft, and committing credit card fraud by using for the purpose of obtaining money, goods, or services valued at less than $1,000.

Misdemeanors

A Lancaster woman, 49, was charged May 16 with two counts of assault.

A Lancaster woman, 23, was charged May 16 with two counts of assault.

A White Stone man, 65, was charged May 17 with assault and battery of a family or household member.

A Weems man, 23, was charged May 21 with driving while intoxicated with a BAC of .20% and failure to drive on the right half of the highway.

Activity Report

May 15: Staff responded to the 200 block of Wayne Circle for vandalism of a vehicle, to the 9200 block of River Road to assist Social Services with child abuse, to the 3200 block of Crawfords Corner Road to check the welfare of a resident, to Goodluck Road and Jessie duPont Memorial Highway for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 6000 block of Mary Ball Road for a possible stolen vehicle, and to the 200 block of Twin Branch Road for a verbal dispute.

May 16: Staff responded to the 500 block of Lancaster Creek Drive for a domestic disturbance and vandalism, to a walk-in report of an assault that occurred at the 100 block of Thomas Landing Road, to the 100 block of Nugent Lane for a stolen .40 caliber Smith & Wesson semi-auto handgun, to the 100 block of James Lane for a trespasser, to Mary Ball Road and Avis Trail for a reckless driver, to a walk-in report of threats made to harm another that occurred at the 2500 block of Morattico Road, and to the 100 block of Coppedge Farm Road for suspicious activity.

May 17: Staff responded to the 2100 block of Ocran Road for domestic assault, to the 8200 block of Mary Ball Road for a three-vehicle traffic crash, to the 600 block of Mosquito Point Road for grass cuttings in the roadway, to Ottoman Ferry Road at the ferry landing for illegal fishing, to the 200 block of Crawfords Corner Road for shots fired from a vehicle in front of a residence, and to the 5300 block of Morattico Road for a trespasser and threats to harm another.

May 18: Staff responded to the 1000 block of Laurel Point Road for domestic disturbance, to the 8800 block of Mary Ball Road for reckless driving, and to the 400 block of North Main Street to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with panhandling.

May 19: Staff responded to the 300 block of Devils Bottom Road for suspicious activity, to the 800 block of Hunton Lane for a possible overdose of narcotics, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for traffic congestion, to the 9200 block of Mary Ball Road for a recovered Samsung cellphone, and to the 200 block of Ocran Road for gunshots in the late evening hours.

May 20: Staff responded to the 2400 block of Merry Point Road for a possible overdose of narcotics, to the 400 block of Bay Ridge Avenue for a sudden death, and to the 100 block of Flagstaff Road for the report of a stolen Smith & Wesson .380 caliber handgun.

May 21: Staff responded to the 3200 block of Irvington Road to check the welfare of the resident, to the 1500 block of Goodluck Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 1700 block of Taylors Creek Road for gunshots in the area, to the 1600 block of Belle Isle Road for people on dirt bikes riding in the Belle Isle Park, to the 100 block of Tammy Drive for a possible burglary, and to the Norris Bridge for debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard.

Staff also conducted 28 traffic stops, issued 35 summonses, assisted three motorists, handled 11 calls for traffic control, investigated six building alarms, logged an inmate transport, received 39 E911 hang up calls, and fielded two calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded a traffic crash at Goodluck Road and Jessie duPont Memorial Highway, separate traffic crashes on North Main Street and Goodluck Road; fire/smoke alarms on Technology Park Drive, School Street, McSwain Road, Mill Creek Lane and Bagpipe Lane.

Kilmarnock VFD also responded with White Stone VFD to a fire/smoke alarm on Lancaster Drive.

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a fire/smoke alarm on Eastview Drive.
