Sheriff’s Report 10-14-21

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against two individuals.

A Farnham man, 34, was charged October 4 with contempt of court: failure to appear.

A White Stone man, 39, was charged October 7 with five counts of probation violation on felony offenses and probation on a misdemeanor offense.

Activity report

October 4: Staff responded to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for the report of debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, and to the 5000 block of Mary Ball Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

October 5: Staff responded to Mary Ball and River roads for a two vehicle-traffic crash, to Old Orchard Drive and Mary Ball Road for a possible single motorcycle crash, to River and Deep Creek roads for a tree down in the roadway, and several reports in the county of weather related trees down in the roadway.

October 6: Staff responded to the Mary Ball and Old Salem roads for a suspicious person, to Mary Ball Road near Clover Lane for a reckless driver, to the 100 block of School Street for disorderly juveniles, to the 300 block of East Church Street to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a domestic disturbance, and to the 9000 block of Mary Ball Road for a suspicious person.

October 7: Staff responded to the 4500 block of Mary Ball Road for a possible suicidal person, to the Norris Bridge for a disabled vehicle blocking traffic, to the 500 block of Lancaster Creek Drive for a disorderly juvenile, to the 400 block of Rappahannock Drive for a minor two-vehicle traffic crash, and to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for a disorderly person and trespassing.

October 8: Staff responded to the 200 block of Old Fair Grounds Way for a possible stolen mobile home, to James Lane for a roadway blocked by moving equipment, to the 4100 block of Weems Road for vandalism, to Taylors Creek and Lumberlost Roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 500 block of Colinbrook Way for two missing Hobie Kayaks, one red and one yellow, to the 3200 block of Irvington Road for a possible forgery of a public document, and to the 400 block of East Church Street to assist KPD with an altercation involving alcohol.

October 9: Staff responded to the 100 block of Granville Bay Road for gunshots, to the 1900 block of Windmill Point Road for vandalism of an Avon inflatable dingy, to the 300 block of Cool Spring Road for numerous gunshots, to Devils Bottom and Laurel Point Road for a possible burglary in progress, to the 400 block of King Carter Drive for a suspicious vehicle, and to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for credit card fraud and a stolen vehicle.

October 10: Staff responded to the 12200 block of Mary Ball Road for trespassing, to the 900 block of Ocran Road for gunshots in the early morning hours, to the 1400 block of Windmill Point Road for a burglary and vandalism, and to the 100 block of Irvington Road to assist KPD with a disorderly person.

Staff also conducted six traffic stops, issued four summonses, assisted four motorists, handled 10 calls for traffic control, investigated three building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged two inmate transports, received 16 E911 hang-up calls and fielded three requests for animal control service.

Fire calls

The Kilmarnock and White Stone volunteer fire departments responded to an electrical fire on South Main Street.

Kilmarnock VFD also responded to a lift assistance request on Jessie duPont Memorial Highway.

White Stone VFD also responded to an unattended fire on Wray Davis Lane.

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to the smell of smoke on Towles Point Road, a fire/smoke alarm on Eastview Drive and a lift assistance request on Granville Bay road.
