Sheriffs’ Reports 03-12-20

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against eight individuals.

A Lancaster man, 30, was charged March 2, with failure to appear on a traffic summons.

A Bumpass woman, 34, was charged March 2 with contempt of court, failure to appear.

A Lancaster woman, 34, was charged March 2 with a probation violation and destruction of property valued at less than $1,000.

A Lancaster man, 36, was charged March 5 with contempt of court, failure to comply with weekend jail service, violation of a court order, failure to comply with the VASAP program, and failure to comply with a court support order.

A Weems woman, 67, was charged March 7 with assault and battery of a family member.

A Weems man, 29, was charged March 8 with appearing intoxicated in public.

A Heathsville man, 38, was charged March 8 with failure to comply with a court order, failure to participate in VASAP.

A White Stone man, 36, was charged March 8 with two counts of probation violations on felony offenses.

Activity report

March 2: Staff responded to the 200 block of Old Fairgrounds Way to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a fight in progress, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a suspicious person walking in the roadway, to the 100 block of Irvington Road for a suspicious vehicle, and to the 100 block of Hatton Avenue to assist KPD with a domestic assault involving alcohol.

March 3: Staff responded to the 300 block of Chesapeake Drive for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 100 block of Hudgins Avenue for an attempted scam, and to the 100 block of Turner Lane for loud music in violation of the county ordinance.

March 4: Staff responded to the 100 block of Washington Street for a possible assault with a knife, and to the 300 block of Gaskins Road for gunshots.

March 5: Staff responded to the 5000 block of Mary Ball Road for obtaining funds by false pretenses.

March 6: Staff responded to the 8700 block of Mary Ball Road for a sudden death, to the 200 block of Crescent Cove Lane for larceny of a trailer, to a walk-in report of larceny of items from within a vehicle, to the 100 block of Hickory Road for a burglary, and to the 800 block of Beanes Road for obtaining money by false pretenses.

March 7: Staff responded to Ocran Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash that had been abandoned by the operator, to the 9400 block of Morattico Church Road for the report of a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 100 block of Oak Leaf Drive for a domestic assault.

March 8: Staff responded to the 2000 block of Black Stump Road for an intoxicated and disorderly person, and to the 800 block of Rappahannock Drive for the reported theft of fuel.

Staff also conducted 47 traffic stops, issued 23 summonses, assisted seven motorists, recorded a deer strike accident, handled five calls for traffic control, investigated three building alarms, logged two inmate transports and received three E911 hang-up calls.

Fire calls

The Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department established a landing zone for emergency medical services (EMS) on River Run Road, and responded to a stove fire on Iberis Road.

The White Stone VFD responded to a traffic crash on Chesapeake Drive, a brush fire on Oak Leaf Drive, and a fire/smoke alarm on Lancaster Drive.

The Kilmarnock VFD responded to a brush fire on Goodluck Road, a smell of propane on Cherry Hill Road, and a traffic crash on Morattico Church Road.

EMS calls

For March 1-7, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 42 calls, including 21 medical emergencies, eight injuries, two traffic accidents, six fires and five other calls.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against eight individuals.

Felonies

Jermaine Koonce, 27, of Warsaw was charged February 24 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County General District Court for violating his pre-trial services. The original charge was possession of a Schedule I or II drug from the city of Richmond.

Adam Brice Freeman-Jones, 20, (no address given) was charged February 25 on a direct indictment issued from the Northumberland County Multi-jurisdictional Grand Jury for entering a home to commit assault and battery and grand larceny. This was served by the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office.

Joe Hubbard Humphreys Jr., 49, of White Stone was charged February 29 with three felony bad check charges.

Tremain Todd Doublin, 26, of Burgess was charged March 3 on a direct indictment issued by the Northumberland County Multi-jurisdictional Grand Jury with distribution of a Schedule I or II drug.

Misdemeanors

A Callao man, 30, was charged February 24 with failing to appear in the Northumberland County General District Court on original charges of shoplifting.

A Farnham man, 32, was charged February 24 by the Rockingham/Harrisonburg Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court with failing to obey a court order.

A Heathsville man, 36, was charged February 25 with violating a protective order.

A Callao man, 29, was charged February 28 with failing to appear in the Northumberland County General District Court.
