After Labor Day, the Tavern Café and Gift Shoppe at Historic Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern, 73 Monument Place, Heathsville, will have new hours.
Both the Café and the Gift Shoppe will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, reported manager Corinne Becker.
Operated entirely by volunteers, the Tavern Café serves homemade soup, fresh-baked bread, quiche, sandwich kits, scones and sweet treats. Pulled pork with slaw is also frequently on the menu, said Becker.
The Tavern’s “Heritage Arts Center” Gift Shoppe sells hand-crafted gifts and cards, all made by local artisans. Several artisans also have studios on site, she said.
