The 2022-23 school year brought three- and four-year-olds of Lancaster County new avenues for preschool education. The Lancaster County Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) opened its doors in a new facility on School Street and a new organization, The Bookworms, was formed by a group of concerned citizens.
The Bookworms was created last fall with a mission to get books into the hands of all students attending the ECEC. With a small board of three, Kathy Pittman, Josh Long and Loretta Thrower, and a shared vision to ensure local students have the resources they need to be strong readers, initial rounds of fundraising began.
