Two LHS runners qualify for state indoor track meet

After two meets, the Lancaster High School indoor track and field team has two competitors with state qualifying times in four different events.

Junior Deja Brown has state qualified in the 55 hurdles and senior Hailey Smith has posted a state-qualifying time in the 1000, 1600 and 3200 meter runs.

According to MileStat.com rankings, Smith’s time of 3:19.97 in the 1000 meter and her time of 5:34.88 in the 1600 meter are the fastest times in the state among Class 1/2 athletes and her 3200 meter time of 12:30.10 is the second fastest.

Smith placed third in the 1000 meter at the Grant Holloway Holiday Invitational in Virginia Beach last Saturday. The invitational included over 80 teams….
