VVFS winners announced at Piankatank

The seventh annual tournament to benefit Virginia Veteran and Family Support (VVFS) was held September 27 at Piankatank River Golf Club (PRGC), Hartfield, hosted by the Knights of Columbus Fr. John Boddie Assembly 3349. Through this series the Knights have raised over $50,000 to support VVFS.

The field of 72 golfers recited the Pledge of Allegiance, received an invocation from Assembly Chaplain Fr. Jerry Kaggwa, and headed to the course under perfect weather conditions. After the competition, all gathered at the Steamboat Restaurant for beverages, dinner, good cheer and awards presentations.

VVFS is a state agency that coordinates housing, behavioral health, rehabilitative and other supportive services for the veteran community. The all-volunteer Virginia Veterans Services Foundation accepts private contributions on behalf of VVFS to supplement public funding.
